The Client
Otsuka America Pharmaceutical Inc., part of the Otsuka group of companies, focuses on a diverse portfolio of products in neuroscience, oncology and cardio-renal and seeks to deliver efficient, effective medicines, that offer the best value to customers.
The Situation
Otsuka America Pharmaceutical embarked on a project to create a central platform to consolidated information for caregivers and HCPs across many of its brands, as well as provide a means to locate speciality pharmacies and local care centers. Otsuka also wanted to lay the groundwork to allow it to readily add brands in the future and manage updates easily.
The Challenge
Otsuka America Pharmaceutical engaged EPAM to help move the company to a multisite environment. In addition to developing pharma-brand sites, Otsuka wanted to introduce an eligibility tool for patients and caregivers, providing a path for individuals to learn if they qualified for no-cost medication. The team was working under short development cycles, and needed to refactor existing code to work with new forms like the eligibility tool.
The Solution
Working with EPAM, Otsuka America Pharmaceutical deployed Acquia Cloud Site Factory to support a multisite environment for the company’s many brands. The team also built out the eligibility tool to support inquiries for financial assistance. The tool packaged form submissions into a PDF and, based upon the outcome, provide directions to the user to download an enrollment application.
The Results
Using Acquia Cloud, EPAM was able to rapidly deploy and test custom module and theme contributions from a team of developers working on other sites in parallel. The team improved workflow and content updates for brand sites, helping further refine the governance of content on the site and additions via permission-controlled moderation. Each site on the mobile platform was fully responsive for mobile, tablet and desktop experiences.
